Marisa Vergara, P.E., STV senior vice president in San Antonio, has been named Chair of the Texas American Water Works Association (TAWWA) Executive Board. Her election to this leadership position was officially recognized during the gavel passing ceremony at the 2025 Texas Water Conference in Houston, TX, earlier this month.
“I’m honored to be nominated to the Executive Board at such a pivotal moment for Texas,” Vergara said. “As the state manages new challenges related to population growth and drought, water management is more important than ever. At STV, we’re focused on creating resilient systems to help Texas meet its water needs. I’m eager to collaborate with experts across the state to advocate for sustainable water solutions.”

Vergara’s dedication to the water industry spans years of leadership within TAWWA. She has held numerous roles, including Chair-Elect for 2024-2025 and Chair for the Scholarship, Design & Construction and Water for People committees. She has also served as President and Trustee of the South Texas Chapter of TAWWA. In addition to her work with TAWWA, she is an active member of the Water Environmental Federation (WEF), the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), and the Civil & Environmental Engineering Advisory Council at Texas A&M Univeristy.
As a vice president leading STV’s Texas and Oklahoma water teams, Vergara brings specialized expertise in water supply, treatment, reuse and program management. Her 28-year career includes project experience that spans more than $1 billion in conceptual design and construction, including the Vista Ridge P3 water supply project, which earned national recognition, including the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) Texas Chapter’s Project of the Year award.
With over 25 years of experience, Vergara has been recognized as an ENR Top 20 Under 40 Engineering Professional and received the Kenneth Miller Water for People Founder’s Award.
