Marisa Vergara, P.E., STV senior vice president in San Antonio, was recently elected to serve as Vice-Chair of the Texas American Water Works Association (TAWWA) Executive Board.
Vergara, a longtime member of TAWWA, has served in various other leadership roles within the organization, including President and Trustee for the South Texas Chapter of TAWWA, as well as serving as TAWWA Chair of the Scholarship, Design & Construction and Water For People committees.
“It is a tremendous honor to serve my industry and represent the state of Texas in AWWA,” Vergara said. “There is a significant need for water and technology to align with the tremendous growth in Texas. It’s an incredible opportunity to be at the forefront of TAWWA and support their critical mission of providing solutions to protect public health and manage Texas’ most vital resource of water.”
Vergara leads STV’s Texas water team and serves as a senior manager to clients on projects, specializing in water, reuse, and wastewater treatment and municipal plants.
Vergara has managed conceptual design for construction projects totaling more than $1 billion, including an ACEC National Grand Engineering Excellence Award project with the San Antonio Water System. Her work on projects such as the historic Vista Ridge P3 water supply project has garnered national attention and recognition, including the Texas ACEC Project of the Year. She is a former ENR Texas & Louisiana Top 20 under 40 Engineering Professional, a Texas AWWA / WEAT Distinguished Member recipient, a TAWWA Maverick Award Winner, and a recipient of the Kenneth Miller Water For People Founder’s Award.
