WTS International, a leading industry organization dedicated to the advancement of women in transportation, recently hosted its 2024 International Signature Leadership Training in Arlington, VA. Among this year’s selected participants were three STV professionals: Rhandi Gallegos, PE, LEED AP, vice president and Georgia area manager, who joined the Executive Track; and Maderley Monsalve, PE, roadway engineer and project manager in STV’s Houston office, along with Elisabetta Barzi, ENV SP, operations manager for STV’s Centers of Excellence based in New York, NY, who were part of the Mid-Career Track.

Designed to equip women with the skills needed to drive an equitable, secure and accessible future of transportation, the intensive program featured expert speakers, practical leadership exercises and hands-on discussions on professional growth, risk management and strategic thinking.

The Executive Track is tailored for women leaders ready to take on top-level management roles within the industry.

“The program gave me a fresh perspective on strategic planning and change management while reinforcing critical skills for effective leadership,” said Gallegos. “Connecting with peers from varied backgrounds was empowering; the openness of our conversations made it clear how much we have to offer each other. It was energizing to be in a space with so many dedicated women.”

Meanwhile, the Mid-Career Leadership Track aims to help participants solidify the foundation for career advancement and build the confidence to take on greater challenges.

“I found this kind of professional training to be truly transformative,” Barzi said. “It provided a rare opportunity to deeply reflect on my skills and leadership approach. I had the privilege of meeting incredible people with inspiring stories, with whom I’ve built lasting relationships. This experience not only emphasized the power of focusing on strengths rather than dwelling on weaknesses but also broadened my perspective through the shared journeys of others.”

“This training was an impactful experience that allowed us to connect with an inspiring and diverse group of women from across the country,” Monsalve said. “Through discussions on personal strengths, effective communication, mentorship and sponsorship, and a guided networking event, I was able to gain many valuable insights and build meaningful relationships and friendships.”
