STV’s Taylor Novitsky, civil engineering specialist, has been honored by the Young Professionals in Transportation (YPT) with its Changemaker Award. This prestigious accolade recognizes YPT members who are making a significant impact in the field of transportation.
YPT, an international 501(c)(6) nonprofit coalition of organizations, is committed to supporting professional growth, building connections, and fostering a sense of community among emerging professionals in the world of transportation.
Novitsky, who has been active in our industry for nearly four years, is based in Philadelphia, but has made significant contributions to highway design and reconstruction projects spanning multiple states, including New York, Connecticut and Oklahoma. She has played a key role in the design of the I-95 Betsy Ross Interchange in Philadelphia, the Van Wyck Expressway Design-Build for Capacity Improvements in New York City, and Route 8 Improvements Design-Build in Connecticut.
Throughout her career, Novitsky has prioritized diversifying her engineering skillset and has demonstrated proficiency in highway design, drainage design, traffic control layouts, safety studies and stormwater management.
“Being a changemaker means more than just doing a great job; it’s about making a real impact,” said Novitsky. “Every day, the challenges we tackle and the solutions we craft influence those around us. It’s not just a job; it’s a commitment to caring about the impact we have on others. As changemakers, we play a crucial role in helping people adapt to advancements and advocating for what lies ahead.”
Outside of her professional role, Novitsky is Chair at the YPT Philadelphia Chapter. In this role, she values fostering connections among the city’s young minds and future leaders in the transportation industry.
Additionally, Novitsky is an active member of the 2023-2024 WTS Emerging Leaders Program, a select cohort contributing to the professional development of women and minorities in transportation. In 2023, Novitsky played a vital role as a planning committee member for TransportationCamp PHL—an unconference-style event sparking discussions about the pros and cons of the transportation industry. Her commitment extends to the 2024 planning committee.
Looking ahead, Novitsky will contribute to the planning committee for the 2025 American Society of Highway Engineers National Conference in Pennsylvania. Emphasizing work-life balance, she engages in various activities, including teaching dance classes for children in Bucks County, PA, snowboarding, fundraising for charities like Penn State THON, traveling to visit family, and enjoying Philadelphia sporting events during her leisure time.
