STV, as part of a joint venture with CBRE, is supporting Cook County’s Build Up Cook program by delivering program and construction management services for a countywide EV charging initiative funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The program focuses on expanding access to public Level 2 electric vehicle charging stations at municipal facilities across Cook County.
Working closely with Cook County and other municipalities, the team is coordinating planning, design and construction activities across multiple sites, so that each installation reflects local needs, site conditions and long-term operational considerations. The effort supports the county’s broader goals of modernizing infrastructure, improving sustainability and strengthening community resilience.
What challenges did STV address?
Delivering EV charging infrastructure across multiple municipalities presented unique challenges, including varying site conditions, utility service requirements, permitting processes and levels of local staff capacity. Many sites also required coordination with utilities for service upgrades as well as careful sequencing to minimize disruption to municipal operations.
