CTfastrak New Britain to Hartford Busway

Running 9.4 miles from New Britain to Hartford, the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s CTfastrak bus rapid transit system is a dedicated bus route that serves more than 14,000 daily passengers.

STV provided construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services for approximately 2.2 miles of the overall 9.4-mile route. The firm oversaw the construction of two passenger stations, thousands of feet of retaining walls, a multiuse recreational trail and three bridges, including a 638-foot span over two active roadways. STV was also responsible for inspecting the quality of construction and materials throughout the corridor, including bituminous concrete paving, drainage, barrier curbing, guiderail, signalized crossings, and chain-link fencing, as well as cast-in-place, pre¬fabricated, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE), modular, and noise walls.

Fast-growing BRT system provides better connections in and around Connecticut’s Capitol.
