As part of the larger Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) modernization initiative, which is transforming the airport ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles, the Delta Sky Way Program called for the reconstruction and renovation of LAX’s Terminals 2 and 3.
Boasting a seamless, enhanced travel experience, Delta’s new 1.2-million-square-foot facility features a new central headhouse connecting Terminals 2 and 3, providing connectivity beyond security that was previously only possible via shuttle bus. The program also provides new ticketing facilities and security screening checkpoints, new and renovated passenger hold rooms, a new baggage claim area, new and renovated facilities for airline operations, operational support spaces for Los Angeles World Airports, and new concessions. The Transportation Security Administration gained a brand-new checked baggage inspection system and infrastructure, while LAX now hosts a state-of-the-art Delta Sky Club—one of the largest lounges offered by Delta.
STV, in joint venture, performed program and project management services, including baggage handling system management, scheduling, financial controls, change and contracts management, and tenant move management services.
Demonstrating the broader significance of this program, the project’s success was featured on an episode of The Today Show as an example of significant improvements at some of the nation’s largest aviation hubs.
