East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor

Spanning 13 miles, the East San Fernando Valley Transit Corridor in Los Angeles provides access to area schools hospitals, as well as major employers. On behalf of the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transit Authority’s (Metro), STV provided systems, operations, and alignment planning and design services within the corridor. The firm helped Metro explore the potential integration of bus rapid transit, light rail transit (LRT) and trams into the corridor as part of an alternative analysis.

STV developed advanced conceptual engineering plans and profiles for proposed LRT and streetcar options along with their respective substation and equipment locations. The team also studied prospective maintenance and operations facility requirements, costs, and the anticipated passenger travel times for each of the options. Metro’s Board of Directors ultimately selected LRT as the preferred alternative transit.
