Lewisburg Armed Forces Reserve Center

As part of a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) nationwide initiative to modernize reserve facilities, the new Lewisburg Armed Forces Reserve Center (AFRC) enhances training, administration and readiness for approximately 400 Army personnel. The center provides modern training, physical fitness, education, recreation, living areas and secure communications to support a highly capable and mission‑ready fighting force.

What challenges did STV address?

USACE required a fast‑tracked delivery of a multi‑building complex that could accommodate specialized military training functions, advanced IT and communications infrastructure, and mission-critical support spaces. The project needed to meet Anti‑Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) requirements, incorporate sustainable design strategies and maintain high levels of coordination across disciplines throughout an accelerated schedule.

What solutions did STV deliver?

STV provided full architecture and interior design, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering services, as well as construction administration. The complex includes a two‑story, 73,000‑square‑foot training center and a 7,900‑square‑foot vehicle maintenance facility designed to achieve LEED® Silver certification. STV used Building Information Modeling (BIM) to enhance design integration and ensure compliance with AT/FP criteria, improving coordination among design disciplines and maximizing facility performance.

How does this project benefit the region?

The new AFRC strengthens military readiness by providing state‑of‑the‑art training and support facilities that improve operational efficiency, enhance soldier well‑being and support long‑term sustainability. The center contributes to the region’s economic vitality and ensures that local Army Reserve units have the resources needed to meet evolving national defense missions.
