Section 100 I-95 Maryland

Consisting of eight miles and featuring an interchange known as the “Spaghetti Bowl” due to its complex geometry of ramps, Section 100 of Interstate 95 in Maryland is the most congested portion of I-95 north of Baltimore. On behalf of the Maryland Transportation Authority, STV provided construction and program management services to improve Section 100.

The comprehensive program included 12 new bridge structures, two bridge replacements, five new noise barrier systems and the construction of the state’s first two-lane express toll lanes to reduce traffic congestion.

To better manage the process, STV developed a manual to guide all construction management activities and processes with designated management staff for each of the construction contracts.
