Designed to complement the Spanish mission‑style architecture found across its campus, the new St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas, is now the largest worship space in the Fort Worth Catholic Diocese. STV served as lead designer and architect‑of‑record for the 1,850‑parishioner sanctuary, creating a spiritual and community hub that blends cultural expression, craftsmanship and long‑term performance.
What challenges did STV address?
The parish required a new worship space that would reinforce its architectural identity, support large congregations and incorporate modern building systems. The design also needed to anticipate future parish growth and integrate seamlessly with previously completed campus buildings where STV had served as architect‑of‑record.
What solutions did STV deliver?
STV designed the sanctuary with hand‑painted ceilings and custom mosaics imported from Italy to reflect traditional craftsmanship. The facility incorporates insulated concrete forms and a Variable Air Volume cooling system to maximize energy efficiency and improve comfort. STV’s longstanding partnership with the parish also included earlier design work for the Parish Activity Center and the religious education building, ensuring architectural continuity across the campus.
How does this project benefit the community?
The new church provides an inspiring, durable and efficient place of worship that supports parish life, community gatherings and cultural events. It strengthens the campus as a center for education, faith and connection, serving current needs while planning for the future.
