Michael Grantner

STV Senior Associate and Senior Project Manager Michael Grantner, P.E., was recently elected as Second Vice President of the American Society of Highway Engineers’ (ASHE) East Penn chapter.

Grantner first became involved with ASHE upon starting his professional career in our industry in 2000. After joining the East Penn chapter five years ago, he was elected to serve on the chapter’s board in 2020 before being named Second VP. He will ultimately transition to become the chapter’s First VP and President.

“From a professional level, it’s nice to be recognized by my peers in the industry and be considered a leader within this chapter,” Grantner said. “It’s also a growth opportunity for me to become further involved in the transportation community.”

In his new role, Grantner ‘s responsibilities will include taking part in monthly chapter meetings and assisting with Professional Development Hours for members working towards their professional licensing. He will also serve as a representative at the ASHE Northeast Region’s quarterly meetings.

“One of my biggest goals is to develop a program that highlights the potential opportunities for growth and infrastructure within the Lehigh Valley.” Grantner said. “These opportunities would not only benefit the engineering community, but also the public.”

Grantner is also hopeful about promoting the significance of industry organization involvement, particularly for early career professionals as they enter their respective fields.

“It’s important to join right out of school, or even earlier,” he said. “When you start to network, you establish relationships with new connections that you may work with later down the line. Become active and involved in your chapters and build that rapport with your colleagues, so that as you and your career grow, you’ll have that network while you also gain experience.”

The East Penn chapter is currently preparing for the 2025 Regional conference, where they will serve as the host chapter in conjunction with the ASHE Delaware Valley chapter.
