PHILADELPHIA, PA – STV today announced that David (Dave) Diaz has joined the firm as senior vice president and national market leader for vehicles, systems and maintenance facilities, bringing more than four decades of owner-side rail and transit experience to help agencies modernize their fleets, improve reliability and extend service.
Diaz strengthens STV’s leadership at a time of unprecedented investment in rail and transit modernization. He will lead national strategy and delivery across fleet procurement, systems integration and maintenance facility programs, helping public transportation agencies modernize assets, improve reliability and extend service.
“Dave brings rare, firsthand experience running fleets and facilities at the largest transit agencies in the country,” said John Ponzio, executive vice president of the Centers of Excellence at STV. “That perspective helps our clients turn major capital investments into assets that perform reliably over decades.”
Diaz has supported and led major vehicle procurements, maintenance facility programs and systems deployments across North America, including high-speed rail, commuter rail, heavy rail, light rail and subway operations. Most recently, he served as interim chief mechanical officer for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), where he led fleet maintenance, engineering and regulatory compliance across multiple modes of transportation. He previously held senior mechanical leadership roles at Amtrak and the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), overseeing large, complex fleets and maintenance on some of the nation’s busiest rail networks.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Assumption University.
STV has a long history of innovation for complex systems, vehicle infrastructure and operational facilities across the country, delivering integrated planning, engineering and design services on large-scale projects for public agencies. STV’s vehicles team is the only firm currently managing a battery-electric locomotive procurement and is the only firm to serve as lead consultant on every dual-mode locomotive procurement in the United States over the past 35 years. The firm has a long and successful track record of bus maintenance facility work, boasting various services for more than 50 facilities across the country since 2008. STV’s national systems team is a trusted resource for some of the largest railroad and transit systems in North America, including Amtrak, Long Island RailRoad, Bay Area Rapid Transit and Metra and Sound Transit.
