STV Architect Elected President of CSI Metropolitan New York Chapter
Bob Drake

Bob Drake, AIA, CSI, CCS, CCCA, senior principal and technical director of architecture at STV, has taken the helm as president of the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Metropolitan New York Chapter.

As chapter president, Drake will preside over board and chapter meetings, appoint committee chairs, serve as an ex-officio member of all committees and help set the chapter’s strategic direction. He also hopes to expand chapter membership and deepen engagement across the industry.

“CSI is the top organization that unites all design and construction stakeholders to pursue our shared goals,” Drake said. “It’s an honor to step into this role and help lead an organization that plays such a vital role in fostering cooperation and progress in our industry.”

CSI is a national association dedicated to advancing construction specifications, communication and documentation. With over 6,000 members across the architecture, engineering and construction industry, the organization develops standards and best practices that foster better project outcomes through shared understanding of specification formats, terminology, procedures and documentation.

Drake has been actively involved with CSI since 2018 and most recently served as a Metropolitan New York Chapter vice president. He takes over the president role from a board that also included STV colleague Paul Ligniti, who recently completed a two-year term as a director.

In addition to his work with CSI, Drake participates as a mentor in the ACE Mentor Program of Greater New York, where he encourages high school students exploring studies and careers in architecture, engineering and construction. He is also an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Queens Chapter, the Project Management Institute, the Society of Architectural Historians and recently joined the Design and Construction Excellence Exchange (DCX).

With more than 35 years of experience, Drake has led the design and construction of a wide range of transportation, educational, residential and civic facilities across the New York metropolitan area. His portfolio includes new and rehabilitated K-12 schools, multi-family housing, athletic facilities, rail stations, intermodal facilities and airport terminals. At STV, his recent work includes projects such as the New York City School Construction Authority’s P.S. 95Q Addition in Queens, the Plane Train Tunnel Western Extension at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the Baltimore Therapeutic Treatment Center and numerous others through quality and constructability reviews.
