STV’s Boris Lipkin, vice president, program development; Patricia Macchi, vice president, director of infrastructure economics and grants advisory; and Jason Mumford, vice president and planning director, have each been appointed to committees on the Transportation Research Board (TRB), part of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine.
TRB is a leading forum for transportation research in the United States, providing guidance that informs policy, legislation and best practices across all modes of transportation.
Lipkin joins the Regional Intercity Passenger Rail Transportation Committee, which helps set the research priorities for passenger rail systems nationwide.
“Our committee helps define the future of intercity passenger rail, identifying opportunities to improve service, efficiency and innovation,” Lipkin said. “It’s an honor to contribute alongside industry peers, academics and public agencies and conducting research that shapes policy and investment decisions across the country.”
Macchi will serve on the Women and Families Committee, which leads research and innovation focused on ensuring equitable access to transportation systems.
“I’m looking forward to connecting this work to STV’s value economics framework, highlighting how projects that consider the needs of women and families create stronger, better communities,” Macchi said. “This role aligns with STV’s commitment to research-driven solutions that benefit clients and the communities they serve.”
Formerly a member of the Urban Rail Transit Committee, Mumford will now contribute as a member of TRB’s Transit Management Committee, which addresses the planning, design and operational strategies that improve public transit systems.
“Transit planning is about understanding how communities move and thrive,” Mumford said. “By contributing to TRB research, we help shape partnerships among researchers and implementers to advance approaches that improve service, accessibility and sustainability for both clients and the public.”
Through their TRB committee work, Lipkin, Macchi and Mumford will help guide research and best practices that influence the transportation industry nationally, supporting STV’s focus on innovation, partnership, and social responsibility.
