STV Promotes Benjamin Crawford to Vice President

PHILADELPHIA, PA – STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today announced Benjamin Crawford, PE, has been promoted to vice president. In this role, Crawford will continue to serve as STV’s chief engineer of Overhead Contact Systems (OCS) design. 

“Ben has played an integral part in several multi-disciplinary, large-scale transportation projects across the nation, and always brings a wealth of technical expertise and a spirit of collaboration to every infrastructure program,” said John Ponzio, executive vice president of the Centers of Excellence at STV. “The systems team is essential in making major transportation programs across North America a reality, and Ben’s leadership and commitment to OCS and our overall practice is key to how we make better outcomes in our communities.”

With more than 25 years of professional experience, Crawford joined STV in 2017 to lead the OCS design team on major transit programs including the Amtrak Hudson River Gateway Tunnel, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Green Line Extension and Ottawa Light Rail Transit. Crawford is also the project manager leading multi-discipline systems teams for programs including the Delaware River Port Authority’s (DRPA) Glassboro Camden Line, the Maryland Department of Transportation MTA Red Line as well as Bi-State Development’s Parkway Interlocking Crossover and Richmond Heights Turnout projects in St. Louis.

Crawford earned his Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech.

For decades, STV has been a leading provider of design and program and construction management (PM/CM) services related to OCS and traction power systems integration and delivery, including for such programs as the CATS LYNX Blue Line Extension in North Carolina, MTA Long Island Rail Road Grand Central Madison and ION Light Rail System in Ontario, Canada. The team also supports other leading agencies including NJ TRANSIT, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), Chicago METRA, Houston METRO and Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).
