Jim Morrison, vice president and geotechnical engineering chief at STV, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Dispute Resolution Board Foundation (DRBF): the leading global authority on dispute avoidance and resolution for construction and infrastructure projects. In this role, Morrison will oversee Region 1, encompassing the United States, Canada and the Caribbean.
A recognized leader in dispute resolution, Morrison brings more than 25 years of experience working with Dispute Review Boards (DRBs) on complex infrastructure programs. He has served as an expert witness providing testimony to DRBs across a wide range of projects and, for the past 12 years, as a DRB panel member on six major capital programs. His experience includes helping establish formal DRB procedures for the Gateway Development Commission supporting the New York/New Jersey region.
“This appointment comes at a critical time, as infrastructure projects grow in scale, risk and complexity,” Morrison said. “Dispute boards play a vital role in resolving issues early, reducing claims and keeping projects on track. Those lessons directly inform how we deliver value to our clients at STV.”
The Dispute Resolution Board Foundation is an international nonprofit dedicated to advancing best practices in dispute avoidance and resolution worldwide. Dispute boards are established at the outset of a project and remain active throughout construction, providing independent, real-time guidance to help teams collaborate and resolve issues before they escalate into formal disputes.
