The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has initiated a new U.S. Courthouse Annex in the Hato Rey section of San Juan, Puerto Rico. The new 180,000-square foot, multi-story Annex will be located on a 26-acre federal campus, linked physically and functionally to the existing Federico Degetau Federal Building and Clemente Ruiz Nazario U.S. Courthouse. The campus comprises the largest facility under GSA’s jurisdiction, custody and control in the Caribbean.
STV is providing comprehensive architecture and engineering services for the new U.S. Courthouse Annex, in association with Davis Brody Bond/A Page Company. The Annex is designed to fit within the constricted space between the two existing buildings, providing 50% more programmed space than the existing Nazario Courthouse yet on a considerably smaller site. The Annex will supply six new courtrooms and ten new chambers, bringing the total complex to 12 courtrooms and 17 chambers and providing longevity and sustained functionality for the U.S. District Court of Puerto Rico.
