AstraZeneca is one of the world’s most advanced biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, producing products to treat cancer, heart diseases, viruses like COVID-19 and more. Powering one of its U.S. data centers required enhancements to crucial equipment, prompting AstraZeneca to enlist STV to provide professional design services for its Fairfax Operations Center Data Center in Delaware.
Increasing the data center’s load capacity and online availability, the new electrical and HVAC equipment provides indefinite continued operating capability. STV evaluated the center’s existing and potential electrical equipment and power network options, including all computers, communications and required building support systems in case of electrical utility power loss. The design solution included dual utility services, a 1,500kW standby generator and paralleling/transfer switchgear.
