Frequency Therapeutics, a biotechnology company advancing breakthrough regenerative medicine, relocated its laboratory and corporate office operations from Woburn to a newly built‑out 65,000‑square‑foot facility in Lexington, Massachusetts. The new headquarters integrates high‑performance laboratory environments with modern office space, enabling the company’s research and corporate functions to operate more efficiently under one roof. STV served as owner’s project manager, coordinating a complex, equipment‑intensive relocation while ensuring scientific continuity and a streamlined transition for staff.
What challenges did STV address?
Relocating an active research organization required detailed planning to support highly specialized equipment, laboratory workflows and stringent environmental health and safety requirements. The program demanded comprehensive coordination of existing and incoming equipment, laboratory infrastructure and specialty systems, while also managing permitting and vendor engagement. Ensuring the timely delivery of long‑lead items, minimizing operational downtime and maintaining compliance throughout the move were central challenges.
What solutions did STV deliver?
STV oversaw all owner’s project management services for the relocation, including equipment matrix development, inventory verification, and laboratory equipment layout across the facility. As part of this turnkey design‑build effort, the team supported environmental health and safety documentation, coordinated permitting, managed new bulk N2 tank distribution and guided FF&E and casework selection. STV also incorporated artwork and plant elements into the workplace design and executed comprehensive move management to ensure a seamless transition.
How does this project benefit the region?
The new Lexington facility strengthens the region’s life‑sciences ecosystem by expanding Frequency Therapeutics’ research capacity and supporting continued innovation in regenerative therapeutics. The consolidated headquarters improves efficiency, enhances collaboration and provides state‑of‑the‑art laboratory environments that help attract top scientific talent to the thriving Greater Boston biotech corridor.
