To ease congestion and bottlenecks to and from the New Jersey shore, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority expanded 18 miles of the Garden State Parkway from two to three lanes between Barnegat and Toms River, NJ.
STV provided resident engineering and construction inspection services for the $127 million program, which included culvert extensions, 10 bridge replacements, construction of a new toll administration building and Express E-ZPass operations, reconstruction of the Barnegat Toll Plaza and construction of new sign structures. STV also managed the relocation of several utilities, including telephone, electric, natural gas, sewer, water and fiber-optic wiring. All services were maintained during construction and relocation, making coordination with the turnpike authority and New Jersey State Police essential for toll collection, traffic control, maintenance and mechanical and electrical functions crucial to the success of the project.
