No. 7 Subway Line Extension

The opening of MTA New York City Transit’s 34th Street – Hudson Yards station marked the completion of a massive $2.42 billion initiative that extended the No. 7 subway line more than a mile from Times Square to Manhattan’s far West Side.

As a subconsultant, STV provided several planning and design services to MTA Construction & Development/New York City Transit, including environmental analyses and urban design and transportation planning to support the preparation of the Generic Environmental Impact Statement. STV also provided systems engineering; supported systems integration engineering efforts; and provided preliminary through final design for communications, fire alarm, CCTV, time clock, and traction power systems.

The completed project brings transit to an area in Manhattan long isolated from the New York City subway system.
