The opening of the $54 million Route 29 All-Electronic Interchange marked the first four-directional, all-electronic interchange on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in its 72-year history. The interchange allows E-ZPass customers to enter or exit the turnpike in either direction while traveling at normal highway speeds. As the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s primary design consultant, STV and its subconsultants provided engineering, environmental services and construction support for the project, which represents the first step in the turnpike commission’s planned conversion to a cashless toll collection system.
