The Sierra College Student Housing project delivered a new 123,000-square-foot residence hall on the Rocklin campus, greatly expanding affordable on-campus housing for students. The facility was designed to address housing insecurity, increase access to stable living options near academic and campus services and strengthen community life by supporting students’ basic needs.
What challenges did STV and the project team address?
The residence hall was built in the center of an active campus, requiring careful safety planning and coordination to protect students, faculty and daily operations throughout construction. The team navigated traffic management and quality oversight within a dynamic educational environment while working with state funding partners and stakeholders so that the facility met both affordability and functionality goals.
What solutions did STV help deliver?
Cypress Construction Management, an STV company, provided program management and construction management (PM/CM) services for the design-build delivery. The team guided Sierra College through planning, procurement and design-build team selection, and contract negotiations, and maintained onsite oversight, coordination and quality management during construction. Their work helped deliver a modern residence hall that supports students’ academic success and campus engagement.
How does this project benefit Sierra College and the community?
The new residence hall features 358 affordable beds across 68 residential units – more than tripling the college’s on-campus housing capacity and significantly improving access to secure, low-cost living options. The facility supports student success by easing housing pressures, enabling more students to live close to classes and campus resources and enhancing the overall college experience.
