Huntersville, NC, is the fastest growing town in Mecklenburg County. With its downtown redevelopment and increased population, traffic congestion has long plagued the local roads.
As part of its long-term vision to provide alternatives for motorists, the town spearheaded a $16-million Main Street improvement project that added an alternate route, increased capacity for motorists, and enhanced pedestrian and bicycle access.
STV provided resident and construction engineering inspection services to upgrade approximately 1.3 miles of Main Street with curbs and sidewalks on both sides of the street and two new roundabouts. STV assisted with administering the construction contract; monitoring and inspecting all roadway construction activities; performing material testing and sampling; and leading coordination efforts with Charlotte Water and Norfolk Southern Railway.
