Families with infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) often face long days filled with uncertainty, stress and emotional challenges. To help provide comfort during those difficult moments, STV’s team recently gathered in New York to support March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving maternal and infant health and helping ensure every mom and baby has the opportunity for a healthy start. Together, employees assembled care packages that will support 50 families with infants receiving care in NICUs.

For many STV employees, the organization’s mission resonates because it supports families and communities during some of their most vulnerable moments. Kevin Stec, Gianna Langstrand, Janice Carlo and Emilie Boman of March of Dimes’ New York Tri-State Market joined with STV employees who decorated baby onesies and wrote personal notes of encouragement for the wellness care packages that were then delivered to Mount Sinai Hospital to remind families that they are not facing their journey alone.

While no gesture can ease the challenges families experience during a NICU stay, the packages were designed to provide moments of comfort and reassurance during an often overwhelming time. During the event, March of Dimes representatives highlighted the urgent challenges facing maternal and infant health in the United States and the organization’s efforts to address them. Through research, education, advocacy and collaboration, March of Dimes works to improve outcomes for moms and babies nationwide while providing direct support through programs such as NICU Family Support®, which helps families navigate the challenges of having a baby in intensive care.

STV has maintained a longstanding relationship with March of Dimes through employee volunteerism, leadership and fundraising efforts. Greg Kelly, STV’s chief executive officer, has been involved with March of Dimes for two decades and previously served as Chair of the organization’s New York Chapter. He is also being recognized with the Industry Leader Award at the upcoming Construction & Labor Breakfast in New York. Additionally, Marc Priem, vice president/area manager for STV in Philadelphia, has also supported March of Dimes initiatives in the Philadelphia region. These longstanding connections reflect a shared commitment to supporting organizations that provide meaningful resources and advocacy for families when they need them most.

For volunteer Luke Floyd, a civil/transportation engineering specialist at STV, the event carried a particularly personal connection.

“In 1996, I was born prematurely and spent four months in the NICU, so naturally this felt like an impactful way to give back,” Floyd said. “The love and care March of Dimes gives to NICU families will truly make a difference in their lives.”
