Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) recently completed two significant landside infrastructure projects – progress that reflects long-term planning and execution to improve mobility, modernize access and support the airport’s long-term growth.
STV, AZ&B (Ardurra) JV joined the airport to mark the completion and opening of the East-West Connector Roadway Project and the completion of new right-hand exits into Terminals A, B and C as part of the International Parkway Project. Together, the projects underscore the scale and sequencing of landside improvements underway across the airport that will strengthen connectivity, improve safety and enhance the customer experience while maintaining essential airport operations.
STV, AZ&B (Ardurra) JV, is supporting DFW through civil landside planning, project management and construction management services (PMCM) as part of the airport’s $12 billion capital improvement plan, DFW Forward. The joint venture supports day-to-day decision-making, risk management and design oversight across roadway, bridge, utility and other landside infrastructure projects while helping maintain uninterrupted airport operations.
Improving Access and Supporting Growth
The new 1.65-mile East-West Connector links Rental Car Drive and State Highway 360, creating a continuous roadway through the southern portion of the airport. The recent milestone brought together DFW leaders and project partners to recognize the culmination of more than two decades of planning, partnership and work to advance the corridor toward opening.
“The East-West Connector fundamentally changes how traffic moves across the south end of the airport, while also setting up DFW for future travel growth,” said Tony Bokaie, STV, AZ&B (Ardurra) JV program director. “Delivering this corridor in an active airport environment requires disciplined phasing, constant coordination and a clear understanding to complex daily operations.”

The new corridor is intended to strengthen east-west mobility around the airport, giving drivers a continuous route through the southern campus that reduces circuitous travel, improves safety and supports access to existing and future development. The roadway was built as a two-lane facility with four-lane intersection improvements, with an ultimate build-out that includes future widening through an additional southern eastbound roadbed to accommodate long-term traffic growth.
The East-West Connector also includes the Trigg Lake Bridge, a structure along the corridor that reflects complex coordination with local, regional and state partners. The project was supported in part through funding from the North Central Texas Council of Governments, with additional collaboration from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
Reconfiguring Terminal Access for Efficient Travel
DFW also recently marked an important milestone on the International Parkway Project, a major effort to modernize and expand access along the airport’s primary circulation corridor. International Parkway connects terminals, parking facilities, rental car operations and regional roadways, making it central to how vehicles move through the airport each day.
The project includes work across bridges, ramps, retaining walls, utilities and lighting. STV, one of DFW’s PMCM and civil landside planning partners has helped support the delivery of the effort within an active airport environment.
The modernization has reconfigured terminal access to create more intuitive, right-hand exits, improving safety, simplifying wayfinding and supporting traffic flow for passengers. As part of the phased effort, new right-hand access into Terminals A, B and C has successfully been completed along International Parkway, with the final configuration into Terminal C opening ahead of the summer travel period and arrival of global fans, accommodating peak travel volumes while accommodating essential operations.

“Reconfiguring access into Terminals A, B and C while keeping one of the world’s busiest airports moving required deliberate phasing and constant coordination,” said Veronica Martinez, senior project manager at STV, AZ&B (Ardurra) JV. “Opening the new right-hand exits ahead of schedule reflects commitment between DFW and the project team to minimize disruption and improve traffic flow when it mattered most.”
Together, the East-West Connector and International Parkway milestones represent meaningful progress in DFW’s long-term effort to strengthen mobility, modernize access and support future growth.
