BALTIMORE, MD – STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today announced the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) selected the firm to provide construction management and inspection (CMI) services for the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge. Following the bridge’s collapse in March 2024, the reconstruction will restore a vital transportation link serving residents and commuters across the Baltimore region.

STV, in joint venture with Michael Baker International, will support the estimated $1.7 to $1.9 billion progressive design-build project through all phases of construction, including during design development, to meet the scheduled opening in 2028. STV has already played a key role in recovery efforts since the bridge’s collapse, with members of the firm’s construction engineering and inspection (CEI) team working tirelessly between April and August 2024 to support 24/7 recovery operations. The firm’s continuing involvement underscores its commitment to the safety and resilience of the region’s infrastructure.

“As local Baltimore area residents who rely on the bridge, we deeply understand its significance as a key connection that supports our region’s economy and quality of life,” said Anthony Tabasco, CCM, CAC, deputy project manager at STV. “We share the collective anticipation for completing this signature project and are proud to support MDTA in delivering a bridge that will reunite and strengthen the Baltimore community.”

The Francis Scott Key Bridge carries the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) over the Patapsco River as the outermost of three toll crossings of Baltimore’s harbor. Before its collapse, it served as a critical transportation link carrying an estimated 11.5 million vehicles annually.

STV is a trusted partner of the MDTA, having contributed to key projects such as improvements to Section 100 of I-95 and leaving a lasting mark on Baltimore’s urban landscape through its local presence for more than 30 years. The firm brings extensive experience in the planning, design and construction management of highways and roadways, as well as fixed and movable bridges serving all modes of transportation. Notable projects include the $555 million design-build of the cable-stayed Kosciuszko Bridge in New York; the Fantasy Harbour Bridge in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; and the rehabilitation of the Longfellow Bridge in Boston, Massachusetts.
