STV was recently named a top company for internships by U.S. News & World Report, earning a spot on its 2026-2027 Best Companies to Work For list.
The list’s Internships category recognizes companies that provide high-impact experiences for interns. The ratings assess publicly available employee sentiment, based on factors such as the quality of pay and benefits, work-life balance and flexibility, job and company stability, sense of belonging and esteem, and career opportunities and professional development.
“We believe the best way to develop future talent is to give people meaningful work, trusted mentors and opportunities to grow from the very beginning of their careers,” said STV Chief People Officer Jacqueline Opal. “Our investment in early careers reflects a broader commitment to developing leaders at every stage of the employee journey and creating an environment where people can build fulfilling, long-term careers. That’s good for our people, our clients, our communities and the future of our industry.”
STV offers a robust Intern Program, welcoming 173 interns this summer from 111 colleges and universities to 38 STV offices across the country.
STV interns work directly with multidisciplinary project teams, contributing to the delivery of complex infrastructure projects and gaining firsthand experience in how work moves from concept through design and into execution. Through that experience – along with project tours, client meetings and professional development sessions – they build a practical understanding of how STV teams collaborate to deliver for clients and communities. This hands-on exposure gives interns a clear view of how their work contributes to projects that make communities better.
“The Intern Program has experienced remarkable growth over the past few years, evolving into a cornerstone of how we attract, develop and invest in emerging talent,” said Sam Terkelsen, career programs manager at STV. “The program’s success is a direct result of the collective effort of our early career professionals, dedicated managers and senior and executive leaders who consistently pour their time, expertise and passion into creating meaningful experiences for our interns.”
This U.S. News & World Report recognition reflects STV’s continued investment in creating meaningful early career experiences – through hands-on project involvement, mentorship and professional development. These attributes help interns build skills, contribute to real work and prepare for long-term careers.
