The Women Builders Council (WBC) named the NYC Health+Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital its 2024 Project of the Year at its 20th Annual Champion Awards Gala. The award recognized STV and its joint venture partner, Group PMx, who served as program managers for the extensive resilience improvements of the hospital campus.
STV and Group PMx, on behalf of NYC Health+Hospitals and the New York City Economic Development Corporation, served as program manager for the hospital’s resilience improvements, administering $992 million in funds dispersed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The hospital sustained severe damage during 2012’s Superstorm Sandy.
The new 350,000-square-foot, 11-story tower features an elevated Emergency Department and infrastructure systems. A resilient flood wall encircles the hospital, safeguarding the entire complex from future storms and flooding. The project is the first new public hospital in Brooklyn since 1982.
WBC also honored nine STV team members with the organization’s Next Generation of Women Builders Award and the Outstanding Woman Award. The awards recognize the emerging leaders and expert professionals that are transforming the buildings and construction industry.
