Brewer’s Hill Redevelopment

Historic breweries have dotted Baltimore’s Canton and Brewers Hill neighborhoods since the early 1900s, but after standing closed for many years, two landmark breweries found new life thanks to STV’s master planning expertise. The Brewers Hill redevelopment of two million square feet of office, retail and residential spaces spans across 30 acres at the sites of the Gunther and National breweries.

STV prepared site development and construction plans for the adaptive reuse and redevelopment of Brewers Hill. The plans were incorporated into a Planned Unit Development (PUD), which opened the site for office, commercial, warehousing and residential uses.

Additionally, the firm provided topographic and property outline surveys for the site, stormwater management, hydrology, master planning, traffic studies and reports. STV also studied pedestrian and vehicular access and provided streetscape guidelines to make the redevelopment more accessible to nearby attractions and housing. In its schematic site design, the firm refined the PUD concept and obtained approval from the Baltimore City Site Plan Review Board Committee.
