Just outside of Boston, STV is providing a suite of engineering and construction support services for a new Fore River Bridge from Quincy to Weymouth, MA.  The 2,406-foot vertical lift bridge is replacing a nearly 80-year-old landmark bascule bridge. The project is being constructed through the design-build delivery method. STV’s role on this project has evolved from its early involvement conducting an initial evaluation to determine the most suitable option for replacing the bascule bridge to currently providing design review and construction support services for the new vertical-lift bridge.

The firm also provided bridge design, environmental assessment, public outreach and design-build procurement document preparation services to facilitate the construction of a new bridge. By using BIM technology early on to identify potential conflicts, STV proactively defined the client’s long-term needs to facilitate maintenance over the project’s design life.
