Regional Intermodal Transportation Center at Hollywood Burbank Airport

In addition to housing rental cars, Hollywood Burbank Airport’s Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (RITC) also serves as a transit hub for bus drivers and provides direct access to and from the passenger terminal via a 1,100-foot-long elevated moving walkway. Standing at three levels tall, the RITC was designed and constructed to meet Maximum Credible Earthquake seismic standards and to be operational after seismic event. As such, RITC also functions as a crucial command center for emergency operations in Southern California.

STV, in joint venture, was contracted by the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority (BGPAA) to provide program and construction management services for the RITC and a new 1,043-space, five-level valet parking structure.

The competed RITC, which has been hailed as a vital transportation link for the only Los Angeles-area airport to also have a direct connection to passenger rail service, houses a consolidated rental car facility, a rental car customer service building and a ground-level bus station. It received a Project Achievement Award from the Construction Management Association of America Southern California chapter and was named a “Best Project” by Engineering News-Record.
