AUSTIN, TX – STV, a leading professional services firm that plans, designs and manages infrastructure projects across North America, today announced that the Austin Transit Partnership (ATP) selected the LINC Austin consortium to provide delivery partner services for the Austin Light Rail Phase 1 Project, the City’s first light rail system. As part of LINC Austin, STV will work in partnership with AECOM, Parsons, Turner & Townsend, Adrmore Roderick and CAS Consulting to manage development of the light rail system. As a subconsultant to AECOM, STV will provide a wide range of professional services to support the project.

The nearly 10-mile, expandable, all-electric system will offer an all-new transit experience with trains running reliably every 5-10 minutes to connect people to major job centers, education hubs and iconic Austin destinations. Featuring 15 stations, the $7 billion project will integrate with cars, buses, commuter trains, bike lanes and other modes of transportation to create a wide range of new ways to navigate Austin.

“Austin Light Rail is a transformative project that will enhance the city’s mobility options and support its continued growth,” said JJ Roohms, PE, president of the transportation Texas/Mountain region at STV. “Cities across the country continue to make strides in light rail transit, and we are proud to help implement this safe and reliable mode of transportation to meet Austin’s needs.”

The light rail system is part of Project Connect, a partnership between the City of Austin, ATP and CapMetro to expand transit options throughout the city. Construction of Austin Light Rail Phase 1 is expected to begin in 2027.

STV has an established track record of providing a wide range of planning, design and program management services for major, multimodal transportation infrastructure projects across North America. Marquee projects include the Gateway Program Hudson River Tunnel and Grand Central Madison in New York City and the first conversion of an exclusive built-out bus rapid transit system into a light rail transit network in North America for the new, 12.5 kilometer system in Ottawa, Canada. STV’s extensive light rail transit expertise has been utilized by clients in Camden, Charlotte, Denver, Massachusetts, Newark, Seattle and Ontario, Canada. In Texas, the firm was instrumental in bringing the first two phases of the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) system to the metropolitan region and the introduction of the METRORail’s 22 mile track to Houston.
