Consolidated Edison of New York, Inc., (Con Edison) is one of the largest investor-owned energy companies in the United States. As part of the design-build team led by Railroad Construction Company, Inc., STV served as the designer for spill prevention control and countermeasure upgrades at 21 Con Edison substations across Westchester County, NY, the Bronx and Manhattan.

The firm’s designs included new below grade moats and upgrades to existing secondary containment systems that would minimize the release of oil to the surrounding soil and environment in the event of a catastrophic failure of oil-containing equipment.
